By Nora Sulte

Foreword
April 26th, 2006

To the reader,

I am happy to commend Nora's testimony to you.

I have known Nora for all the time she and her husband Sid and their family have lived in Australia. Norah is a sincere, honest, reliable and mature Christian. In times past I have been Sid and Nora's pastor. It has been my privilege to work with Nora and Sid in getting the planting of a new church underway. We have had many times of prayer together and the Lord has been faithful and responsive.

May Norah's testimony be a great encouragement to you to trust the Lord in all things.

An Average Life
Hello. My name is Nora and I would like to tell you a story of how my life was changed by God.

I tend to think that I grew up in what one may call an “average” family. My father was a well respected man by many people in our community and beyond. He was a teacher, a church leader and before he retired held a reputable position in a government office. We lived in a small quiet town in the northern part of the Philippines. I attended Sunday school in a Methodist church until I was twelve. I do not remember those days clearly but I do remember that I was very timid and extremely shy.

Around that time, my family permanently moved to Manila. My family constantly moved from one place to another to suit our studying situation as well as to be close to much needed amenities such as hospitals and medical help for my mother and myself.

As far as I can remember, my mother was bed ridden with illness in constant need of medical attention. Though it amazed me that my mother outlived my father by a few years. She died in my care, when the youngest of my three sons was five months old.

Because of our constant relocations, I never had the opportunity to build long lasting friendships. I became more introverted, kept well to myself and was very fearful of where my future will take me. I became obsessed in the practice of palm reading and in tarot cards, to the extent that I could not get out of the house without reading my daily horoscope. At that time, I had no idea that these practices were demonic and how much it had controlled my early life.
